about
Sophie is a Devon‑based artist and writer whose work lives at the threshold between landscape, emotion, and myth. Working across painting, prose and poetry, she explores the inner weather systems of being human - the fogs, tides, thresholds, and luminous openings that shape our inner lives.
Her visual practice blends layered acrylic textures with veils of colour and diffused light, creating atmospheric abstractions that feel both geological and ethereal. Shifting coastlines recur throughout her work as symbolic terrains where change becomes visible.

As a writer, Sophie works in the same terrain of emotional ecology. She writes speculative literary fiction and prose-poetry, weaving together ritual, longing, transformation, and psychological depth - shaped by a deep fascination with how humans imprint themselves on place, and how place, in turn, imprints itself on us.
She has a Masters in Writing from Warwick University, and is a member of the Milverton Writers group. Her work has been published in various magazines and anthologies, including Reflex Fiction, Here Comes Everyone, and Odes To The Ash Tree. She was awarded the Devon Prize in the Parracombe Writers Prize, and was short listed for the Repton Festival Skald Poetry Prize.
